Ready, set, hike! In the National Football League (NFL), 32 teams are battling to make it to the Super Bowl. As we progress deeper into the NFL season, we begin to see the difference between good teams and bad teams. Who is going to win Super Bowl LX? Let’s go over the good, the bad, and the underperforming teams.
We’ll start with one of the most controversial teams in the NFL:
Dallas Cowboys (6–7–1)
Every NFL fan either loves or hates the Cowboys. In the Northeast, you will find a lot of Cowboys haters because the Cowboys are division rivals with New York, Philadelphia, and DC. With quarterback Dak Prescott leading the team for a decade, they have consistently performed decently, but they haven’t made it to a Super Bowl in 25 years. The Cowboys’ success in the ’70s and ’90s attracted fans all over the world, and with their constant media attention, they are unavoidable. If you are a Cowboys hater like Felix, there is good news: With the Eagles dominating their division, it seems unlikely the Cowboys will make it to the playoffs this year.
Final Prediction (Felix): 8–8–1, cut
Final Prediction (Zeke): 10–6–1, lose wild card
Now, let’s look at some of the best teams in the league who are very likely to go far into the playoffs:
Buffalo Bills (10–4)
With many fans in the city and upstate, the Bills have come extremely close to making the Super Bowl almost every year recently, only to be stopped by the Kansas City Chiefs every single time. Quarterback Josh Allen is considered one of the best in the league. Along with other great players such as running back James Cook III and wide receiver Khalil Shakir, the Bills have secured their spot as one of the best teams in the league.
In Week 1, during the Bills vs. Ravens game, Bills fans like Zeke thought they would start the season with a loss. They did not expect the game to be as intense as it was. The Bills were losing by 15 points with four minutes to go, but Josh Allen threw 16 points in the last four minutes of the game, securing the Bills’ 41–40 victory.
The Bills also take the spot as the only good New York team this year, as the Jets and Giants are performing very poorly. But the Bills have been on a losing streak, so we’ll have to see if they even make the playoffs.
Final Prediction (Felix): 11–6, lose divisional
Final Prediction (Zeke): 13–4, win superbowl
New England Patriots (11–3)
After Tom Brady’s departure from the team in 2020, the Patriots were struggling to keep up with the rest of the NFL. However, this year, they have returned to being one of the best teams in the league. With key players such as quarterback Drake Maye and wide receiver Stefon Diggs, they’ve picked up many key victories, such as their Week 10 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. With competition from the Buffalo Bills, it remains unclear whether they will clinch the divisional title, but they are almost guaranteed to make it to the playoffs.
Final Prediction (Felix): 14–3, lose conference
Final Prediction (Zeke): 13–4, lose divisional
Denver Broncos (12–2)
The Broncos have quickly risen to be one of the best teams in the NFL. Rivals with other key AFC West teams, such as the Chargers and the Chiefs, the Broncos now lead the AFC West in terms of record. With key players Bo Nix and Pat Surtain III, they are projected to make it far into the playoffs and possibly win the Super Bowl! Along with the Chargers, they are also a factor in the Chiefs’ downfall.
Final Prediction (Felix): 14–3, win super bowl
Final Prediction (Zeke): 15–2, lose divisional
Philadelphia Eagles (9–5)
The Eagles, Super Bowl LIX champions, are one of the strongest teams in the NFL. With MVP Jalen Hurts leading the team, running back Saquon Barkley with over 2,000 rushing yards in the 2024 season, and star wide receivers AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith, the Eagles have a wide variety of great offensive players. Coached by Nick Sirianni, the Eagles also have a great defense, which was key to their Super Bowl victory over the Kansas City Chiefs last year.
Final Prediction (Felix): 12–5, lose superbowl
Final Prediction (Zeke): 11–6, lose superbowl
Indianapolis Colts (8–6)
The Indianapolis Colts are one of the more interesting teams leading the NFL this year. After not making the playoffs since 2020 and having a subpar 8–9 season last year, the Colts are having the season of a lifetime. Key players Daniel Jones and Jonathan Taylor have been essential to their victories. Having defeated other great teams such as the Broncos and the Chargers, the Colts are expected to make it far into the playoffs, except the fact that their Quarterback got hurt during week 14, and after a short losing streak, they may not even make it at all.
Final Prediction (Felix): 11–6, lose divisional
Final Prediction (Zeke): 8–9, cut
Now, let’s take a look at the other New York teams, who, sadly, aren’t performing well:
New York Giants (2–12)
The New York Giants have many promising players. Quarterback Jaxson Dart and running back Cam Skattebo, both rookies this year, are projected to become some of the best players in the NFL. Dart’s first game (Week 4 against the Chargers) was an exciting game for Giants fans, as the quarterback got his first professional win against an extremely strong team. Unfortunately, in the same game, Giants wide receiver Malik Nabers got injured after attempting to catch a long pass from Dart, and is now out indefinitely. Along with this injury, sadly, many other Giants players have been injured, including Dart and Skattebo. While the Giants probably will not make it to the playoffs, it will be exciting to watch them next year, with these promising young players in action.
Final Prediction (Felix): 4–13 cut
Final Prediction (Zeke): 5–12 cut
New York Jets (3–11)
The New York Jets are possibly the worst team this season. After starting with seven losses in a row, they have exceeded the definition of a bad team, leaving their fans embarrassed. They won their next two games, which has softened the blow a little bit. One of their best players, Sauce Gardner, was just traded to the Colts, which devastated many fans. The Jets need to rebuild their worsening team for a future playoff run, but this year, next year, and maybe the year after seem out of reach.
Final Prediction (Felix): 3–14 cut
Final Prediction (Zeke): 3–14 cut
Finally, we have one team that is deeply underperforming:
Kansas City Chiefs (6–8)
The Chiefs, winners of Super Bowls LIV, LVII, and LVIII, are considered one of the greatest NFL teams in recent history. They have made it to five of the past six Super Bowls, due to the performances of quarterback Patrick Mahomes, running back Isaiah Pacheco, and tight end Travis Kelce. And with experienced coach Andy Reid, they came into the season with high expectations. They lost their first two games against the Chargers and Eagles (both of which are, admittedly, strong teams), but they have since lost more games they were expected to win, such as their loss against the Jacksonville Jaguars, shocking many NFL fans. With other AFC West teams, such as the Broncos and the Chargers, expected to make it to the playoffs, the Chiefs will have a hard time rebuilding their reputation.
Final Prediction (Felix): 9–8, cut
Final Prediction (Zeke): 9–8, cut
So, with all of this in mind, who are our picks to enter and win Super Bowl LX?
Zeke: Bills vs. Eagles, Bills win. Since the Eagles won last year and look just as strong this year, I believe they will go as far as the Super Bowl, just like last year. As for the Bills, they have proven their worth so far this regular season, even with their losing stretch, and shaky defense. Their last Super Bowl title was in 2007, and I think they are a better team than the Eagles this year.
Felix: Broncos vs. Eagles, Broncos win. With the Broncos winning many key games and having many excellent players, I believe that the Broncos will win their first Super Bowl since 2016. The Eagles, last year’s Super Bowl champions, are also expected to make it very far. But overall, I think the Broncos will do slightly better than the Eagles.
The NFL season thus far has been pretty crazy. There was a tied game, as well as multiple overtime and photo-finish games. While the Giants and Jets are not expected to make it to the Super Bowl at all, you can still expect the Bills to have a good playoff run and possibly make it to the Super Bowl. We will see if our predictions are correct or even close, and more importantly, which one of us is better at predicting!
