Brightly colored eggs, chocolate rabbits, and baskets filled to the brim with all sorts of candy—a telltale sign that the Easter Bunny has arrived. Every spring, millions of children wake up to the excitement of gifts the Easter Bunny has left behind, all while failing to find the elusive, gift-giving visitor. But where does the star of this holiday come from? According to history.com, though the origins of the Easter Bunny are unclear, the Easter Bunny “has become a prominent symbol of Christinanity’s most important holiday,” as rabbits, “known to be prolific procreators, are an ancient symbol of fertility and new life.” Even though the Easter Bunny has become the centerpiece of Easter for many, very little is known about the main character itself. 

Eager to learn more, we decided to interview HSMSE’s faculty and students to see what exactly they can tell us about the Easter Bunny. 

The questions that were asked are as follows: What color is the Easter Bunny? What gender, if any, is the Easter Bunny? Would you ever want to meet the Easter Bunny? And, most importantly: Would you ever want to eat the Easter Bunny?
