Hello, readers! You’re with Ocean and Willow, reporting live from Ms. Hesseltine’s dungeon. Whether it’s your first or fourteenth time picking up a copy of The Echo, we welcome you.
As Co-Editors-in-Chief for the 2025–26 school year, we will uphold The Echo’s motto—“for the students, by the students”—by amplifying the student voice and bringing our community together, one beautiful edition at a time.
We’ve heard your feedback about our paper’s ridiculous length, so we hope to publish eight concise issues throughout the year—in print and on our website. They’ll Echoooo HSMSE’s quirks, from MTA mysteries to teacher interviews (because, yes, they do exist outside of school). The Echo vows to deliver compelling, well-edited stories, layout, and art—but we need your help. Whether it’s by joining elective next semester, sending your own Letter to the Editors, or even participating in our humble club on Thursdays, we intend for our newsroom to be a home for all.
HSMSE’s student newspaper was founded in 2022—our freshman year. Among the purple pipes and papier-mâché dragons, The Echo found us and gave us our direction. We have grown alongside our newspaper, and, though we will have to bid it farewell come June, we want to make the 2025–26 year the best yet.
